Why does my pet need an exam before vaccines?

Every patient needs an exam before being administered vaccines. If a pet is not healthy before getting the vaccine injection your pet may not build a strong defense after the vaccination.

Why does my pet need an annual preventive care check up?

An annual preventive care exam allows us to evaluate your pets’ health status and to detect any problems sooner. Early detection and diagnosis of a health problem can help your pet live a longer and healthier life, especially as many illnesses show very gradual changes in your pet that may be difficult to appreciate in the early stages, and don’t produce dramatic changes until they are in an advanced state.

What happens when my pet is spayed?

A spay is the common term for ovariohysterectomy. This means that the uterus and ovaries are removed. After a spay your pet can no longer have litters of offspring and is no longer at risk for cancers and illnesses of the reproductive tract.

What happens when my pet is neutered?

A neuter is the common term for castration. This means that the testicles are completely removed. This surgery makes your pet unable to sire a litter and may help prevent or improve behaviour problems and prevent other diseases.

What happens when my pet has dental work?

When your pet is admitted for a complete oral health and treatment procedure, they will be placed under general anaesthesia, full mouth radiographs (xrays) will be taken of the teeth to make sure the roots and surrounding bone are healthy, and the teeth will be completely scaled to clean off all plaque and calculus and polished to remove any microscopic scratches that will give bacteria a place to establish themselves.  If any other procedures (such as extractions) are necessary, they will be performed at this time.

What is involved with my pets annual preventive care check up?

The annual preventive care check up is important because health problems are easier to manage or prevent when they are detected early.

Do I need pet insurance?

Pet insurance enables many owners to provide their pets with needed care without finances being an obstacle. There are many different companies that offer packages including complete health through to emergency only coverage, making it easy for pet owners to find a plan that meet their needs as well as their pets’ life style needs. We encourage pet owners to consider pet insurance, so that, in the case of needed care, clients are not faced with the difficult choice of deciding between financial considerations and their pets well being.

What is your policy with regard to payment?

Our policy is that payment is due once services have been rendered. We are unable to accept credit, that being said many customers do not have cash when an emergency happens. This is why we encourage clients to use finance companies that specialize in lending for pet owners that need help.
